Avoriaz
Once you've reached Avoriaz, you can enjoy a relatively low-impact holiday. Its car-free and the only way to get about is by horse drawn-sleigh, on foot or on your skis. Most of the accommodation is modestly sized, self catered apartments in large buildings which means much less energy is used and wasted per apartment when compared to detached chalets due to the 'warmth in numbers' principle (less external walls).
